Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Sam dies. She has the image of the perfect life; she's popular, has a cool boyfriend and nothing could be wrong. But then she dies and has to live through her last day for a week. She starts to learn what she really is about to miss.
Sam started out as this typical annoying popular girl. She annoyed me with her shallowness and egoism. She felt real, though, because of that and even though I had problems understanding her life - I was never the party girl with that kind of worries - she felt like that ordinary insecure playing cool girl.
I liked the character development and the meaning behind all of it. That people aren't like how you think they are - there's always reasons and emotions behind everyone, the popular girls that people judges as bitches though there might be reason behind why they act out if one only troubled to see and help, that the weirdos and the "normal" people have feelings. That you shouldn't trust everything you hear, rumours are mostly just rumours. That you deserve the best.
Do what's best for you, that makes you feel good. You're the star in your life (though don't harm others, what you plant is what you harvest).
It's never too late.
And don't drink and drive.
Really.
