The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan StroudMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Enchanting.
It's been a while since I was so caught in a book that I just wanted to read on and on and on and dreaded when I had to put it away.
It's a lovely blend of adventure and humour. It's just something bewitching reading about a magical modern day London, where the magic, unlike in the often compared Harry Potter, is open in the society - which also causes interesting drifts between magicians and commoners. That will surely be adressed further on in the series.
