The World Without Us by Alan WeismanMy rating: 2 of 5 stars
When human's are gone, will chimpanzee find it lucrative to take our place in the world? What will happen to Earth when human's are gone and we stop farming? How will Earth handle plastics, nuclear and other dangerous waste, even our burial traditions?
That, and other questions regarding how Earth will be and what'll happen when humans are gone, this book tries to answer.
I found the topic alluring, and I was interested to find out what may happen to our Tellus and it's plants and animals when gone. But, meh, the book didn't grab me too much. I think it mostly down to that it feels like Weisman is rabbling too much. There's too much text. It creates a kinda beautiful, lyrical language, but I don't want that in a non-fiction book. Though, the rambling do eventually lead up to core points of the topic.
It's an okay read, all in all, and perhaps a jumping stone to other books discussing the same topics.
